On Redistricting and Election Reform
Forward Utah asked its online and email community to weigh in on several questions related to Utah’s ongoing redistricting debate. Responses were collected using a five-point agreement scale ranging from “Strongly Disagree” to “Strongly Agree.” The results reveal overwhelming support for independent redistricting and broad skepticism toward the legislature’s constitutional claims.
We asked four questions:
- An independent redistricting commission is a good approach for drawing Utah’s congressional maps.
- The Utah State Legislature is making a compelling constitutional argument by saying it should retain primary authority over drawing congressional maps.
- The current, court-imposed “donut district” map is likely to lead to better political outcomes for Utah.
- Beyond redistricting, Utah would benefit from a broader set of election reforms.
184 members of the Forward Utah audience responded between February 26, 2026 and March 11, 2026. Email us to request the raw result data.
